Costiera Amalfitana by air
On a recent trip to the Amalfi Coast I climbed way above the coast with my dear friend Laura at Ciao Amalfi. We could almost touch the turquoise sky hovering over the water in Ravello’s Villa Rufolo. Yet our ability to fly was tethered by reality to the good old Italian soil. When suddenly, up in the sky, look, it’s a bird, it’s a plane, noooooooo – it’s super chopper. We envied the lucky tourist who did a fly-by right over our heads and the Ravello hills, down the beautiful Amalfi coastline and away in the distance to Capri. What a way to truly appreciate that the sky and sea do meet in an azure wonder. Then, weeks later, lo and behold, I discover Sam Helicopter tours thanks to Drive Amalfi on Twitter.
Dream flight over the volcanic island of Ischia, italy
Now this truly is living the luxurious life. Site-seeing chopper rides start at a whopping
€ 2100 (approx. $2,964) but hey, that’s why this column is called Saturday Splurge!

Ciao! Oh my…a splurge indeed! That would be one amazing way to see the Amalfi Coast. What a nice memory of our fun day in Ravello!
